Weekend in Lenk

Alistair and Chris invited Léman Poets to spend a weekend in the Swiss Alps in a huge chalet in Lenk in October 2011. The weather was spectacularly mixed as you can see on this page, with horizontal snow on Saturday and first thing Sunday, before the sun gradually battled through and burned off cloud to give us a marvellously clear blue sky and a tremendous view of the mountains.

Prize for best behaviour for the entire weekend was awarded to Jess - she's the hairy one, fifth from the left. Notice too the enormous, impressive cataract behind us... Funnily enough, no-one took up Alistair's suggestion to go down a vertiginous, slippery path to the foot of the ravine hundreds of feet below. The character on the far right must just have wandered into the photo.

In between gazing at the views, enjoying wonderful food and wines, the group critiqued recent work, undertook writing exercises, and planned Léman Poetry Workshop activities for the coming few months. Oh it was hard to resume normal weekday life as the weekend came to an end.
